A state agency of emergency services that helps local governments plan and respond to natural and manmade disasters operates out of two primary locations, with scores of remote offices throughout their state. The agency has a state-wide staff of employees, contractors, and volunteers that total about 1,250. For the last few years, the agency has been virtualizing operations, replacing standard rack servers with blades and network attached storage. However, that strategy has proven difficult to implement in its smaller offices, which can be as small as one person hooked up via a DSL line. Additionally, blade servers and NASs are too big to deploy in the larger locations. Click on the two hardware platforms that best suit the customer's needs.
