They've been the couple keeping everyone guessing for the past five years with their cryptic tweets and mysterious Instagram photos, and just when we thought Justin Bieber had moved on from his ex, he recently admitted that he still loves Selena Gomez "dearly".

In an interview with Access Hollywood, the singer explained: "She is someone I love dearly. I am never going to stop loving her. I am never going to stop checking in on her."
Despite splitting in October 2014, the Where Are You Now singer said he's not yet "over it". He continued: "I don't think if you end a relationship, you should end that, unless it was super toxic and you guys were hurting each other physically or mentally. We always respected each other and we still respect each other."

The couple have been friends since 2009 after being introduced to one another by their managers, however they kept their relationship under wraps for two years. Their four-year relationship was plagued with break-up rumours and countless 'back together' selfies, which left fans on the edge of their seats.
However, Justin revealed that he can't quite move on: "It was really tough, I don't know if I'm over it yet. I think that I am definitely in another place and we've gone our separate ways. I love her and want her to be awesome but there are things that remind me of her."
Justin, 21, is still in regular contact with the former Disney star, 23, and admits that a few of the songs on his upcoming album, Purpose, are about her. He claims the split itself was a result of bad timing. "I wrote a song that didn't make the album. It was called If I Would Have Met You In 5 Years, how true is that? How many people go through life and end up meeting someone and it feels so right but it's just the wrong time. I think so many people can relate to that."
Asked whether he thought the once loved-up couple would rekindle things, he explained: "I don't know what happens or what is going to happen in the future. I think we both gotta do some soul searching ourselves and figure out ourselves before we can figure out each other."
So, that's a yes - or a no?

Justin Bieber has opened up to Complex Magazine about his on-off relationship with Selena Gomez. The singer said that when he moved in with Selena, at the tender age of 18, he "learned a lot". He even went on to liken their romance to a marriage.

"I moved in with my girlfriend when I was 18. Started my own life with her. It was a marriage kind of thing. Living with a girl, it was just too much at that age. But we were so in love. Nothing else mattered."
The pair got together in 2011 but split up and reunited several time before finally calling it quits. JB now blames their youth for the break-up, saying: "We were all about each other," he said. "But when it's like that and you get your value from that, people will always disappoint you. Your girl or your dude, they're always going to disappoint you."
"Your full identity can't be in that person. My identity was in her. Her identity was in me. When stuff would happen, I would lose my freakin' mind, and she would lose her mind, and we would fight so hard because we were so invested in each other."

Justin said he'd learned a lot from the romance and looked at love differently now. "I can't lean on people. I got to lean on God. I gotta trust in him through all my situations. Then, hopefully, my other relationships will flourish around me."
It's rumoured that he's moved on with Brit Jayde Pierce. "I'm kind of seeing this girl, right?," he said. "I'm shy about doing or saying certain things, and then I say it and it's not even a problem. And I'll remember when I couldn't."

There are two ways a break-up can go. You can either avoid them, shoot them venomous looks across the pub and tell everyone about their annoying habits, or you can follow by Selena Gomez's example and sing their praises... bigger person and all that.

The 23-year-old told The New York Times "While people were writing that I was stupid for being in [the relationship], this is what I always saw in him," about Justin's recent comeback. "I'm like, duh!"
Selena and 21-year-old Justin dated on-and-off for three years and decided to end things for good in 2014.

"It's all part of my story," she says. "I'm growing and changing. I was in a relationship, and I was being managed by my parents, and I was still under Hollywood and Disney, and I was being held to this expectation of being the good girl."

Fresh Jelena news - or is it?
Yesterday Justin Bieber uploaded two cryptic videos of him crying, supposedly following Selena Gomez's show with rumoured new-beau Zedd at Sunday's Golden Globes. Naturally, this has sent the media into a he's-not-over-her frenzy.
The first video shows a closeup of Justin's mouth trembling which he captioned, "when ur about to cry." The second video is a full-on crying fit - but then he breaks character and laughs at the end.
Obviously we know he's being melodramatic, but is it a coincidence that he posted these following the news that Selena may be dating someone else? We're not convinced...

Selena Gomez's new tune The Heart Wants What It Wants, spoke volumes about her on-off boyfriend Justin Bieber - but she's still talking about her ex at every opportunity.

Speaking to Norwegian radio station NRJ yesterday, Selena spoke of her "love and respect" for the Biebs.
"I definitely have so much respect and love for him," the singer said. "Going into the studio is just very therapeutic. It was my way of having it be a message more to people in general. People everywhere feel this feeling. They should understand when anybody goes through that. They just can't help what they want and [who] they love."
She also revealed that she is currently single, but added that she doesn't even know how to use Tinder.
"Oh, goodness no!" she laughed. "I don't even know how to work it, to be honest."
Lastly, Selena was questioned about whether she likes Justin's new peroxide blonde 'do, but she refused to answer, saying, "That's for him. I'll let him answer all that."
We'll take that as a no, then...
ON FRIDAY 7 NOVEMBER 2014, WE WROTE...
Yesterday, all of us at GLAMOUR HQ couldn't stop speculating about whether Selena Gomez's new tune, The Heart Wants What It Wants, with its emotional beginning, was about her on-off boyfriend Justin Bieber.

And now it turns out it most definitely was.
In an emotional interview with Ryan Seacrest, Selena spilled her heart out about their break-up.
At the beginning of the song, Selena is heard crying: "When I was on stage and I was thinking of ...I felt like I know him though and I know his heart and I know he wouldn't do anything to hurt me," she begins. "But I didn't realize that feeling so confident and feeling so great about myself ...and then it just be completely shattered by one thing. By something so stupid, but then you make me feel crazy. You make me feel like it's my fault...I was in pain."
She explained how the scene was filmed. "They taped the mic underneath the table when I was shooting the video," she told Ryan, close to tears. "And I went in and I went into the room by myself, and I looked at the actual mirror in the music video, and I had a conversation [with] myself to every question I had in my mind in that moment: 'Wow, this feeling changes everything and you can't help it.'"
As for how Justin reacted to the video, she joked: "I think it was really hard. I think he was a little jealous of the video guy at first!"
Selena also explained why her and Justin kept getting back together, against everyone's advice. "I was trying to figure out what I'm doing, and that was the first time I was constantly being kicked down for doing that. And yeah, I made some decisions that weren't great as well, and so did he and that's why we went through all that to only make us better."
However, Selena was still feeling positive after a hard few years. She said of Justin: "I support him. I think I always will. I'm upset when he's upset, I'm happy when he's happy. I don't want anything bad ever happen to him. It hurts me. That's all."
She added: "[I learned] how to love myself first. And not just in a relationship, just my everyday life."

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez's relationship has been, by definition, tumultuous. We've written about it at length on this very page - and now it sounds like Selena's been talking about their relationship (or one that was very similar) in her new music video.

In the video for The Heart Wants What It Wants, Selena is heard talking on the phone to a friend, and it gets emotional when she discusses an ex:
