3D artists approach the world from what might be loosely termed a “scientific” or objective viewpoint. After the initial planning phase, these artists analyse the scene as a collection of distinct, name able objects and then model each object at the centre of the virtual world, where it is coloured, textured and then moved into position. Lights are strategically placed to provide the 3D scene with shadows and highlights and the composition is rendered by complex algorithms that are, to a large extent, beyond the artist’s control.
