Article 47 Qualifications for Membership
(1) In order to become a member of Parliament any person -
(a) must be a citizen of Nepal;
(b) must have attained twenty five years of age for the House of Representatives and thirty
five years for the National Assembly;
(c) should not be disqualified under any law; and
(d) should not hold an office of profit.
Explanation: For the purpose of this sub-clause, "office of profit" means any position, other
than a political position, to be filled by election or nomination for which a remuneration or
economic benefit is paid out of a Government Fund.
(2) No person shall be a member of both Houses simultaneously.
