To study the mechanism for the improved dispersion of sil-ica, the model silica/MoS2mixtures were prepared. MoS2aqueoussolution was diluted to 0.5 mg/mL. Silica was then slowly addedto the MoS2solution according to the preset MoS2/silica weightratios (1:0, 1:6, 1:10 and 1:30). The mixtures were first stirred, andthen subjected to sonication for 1 h at room temperature. For theUV spectrum test, all the suspensions were further diluted into thesame MoS2concentration (0.1 mg/mL). For comparison, the silicasuspensions in respective concentrations were also prepared bysonication for 1 h at room temperature.For Raman spectrum test, the above mentioned suspensionswith same MoS2concentration (0.5 mg/mL) and volume weresubjected to lyophilization for 72 h. The freeze-dried solids werecollected and ready for Raman experiments.
