A provider BSE recommendation was a strong predictor of conducting BSE. The results suggest providers are an important and trusted resource for health information and screening adherence. The findings are not surprising since provider recommendations were strong predictors of screening adherence in other studies for HPV or mammography use . More research is needed to identify if college women of different racial/ethnic groups may have similar provider-patient communication for BSE screening recommendations.
