This infant had a history of recent fever and upper respiratory
tract congestion. A few days prior to death, the infant was
treated with Children's 'IXylenol Plus-Cold and Cough. The infant
was found cold and unresponsive. The infant's medical history
was remarkable for Down's Syndrome, and the infant was dependent
on a feeding tube. The autopsy findings included inflammation
and enlargement of the right tonsil with
accompanying sero sanguinous fluid in the right middle ear.
The cause of death was determined to be Klebsiella pneumoniae
sepsis, due to pneumonia caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae,
with toxic levels of Childrens's Tylenol Plus-Cold and Cough
contributing. The vitreous fluid electrolytes (sodium 164
MEQ/L, chloride 149 MEQ/L) and urea nitrogen (91 mg/dL)
concentrations showed evidence of dehydration
