Total protein content was determined by the Bradford
protein assay kit (Pierce, USA) through an absorbance reading
at 562 nm as a result of the reaction between protein and Coomassie
Brilliant Blue G-250. Bovine serum albumin (2 mg/mL)
was used to draw the standard curve within a working range
between 0 and 750 mg/mL (Funami et al., 2007).
