In this chapter, those aspects of operant theory that are readily applied in group are discussed. For a more thorough discussion of operant theory as it is applied to clinical work in general, the reader is referred to Nemeroff and Karoly (1991) and Kazdin (1989). In each of the above examples, the grouptherapist responded to a given set of behaviors with positive feedback, praise, tokens, material goods, and/or food.
