Propanols and butanols have higher molecular weights
and they have well-pronounced amphiphilic properties.
As a result, their abilities to incorporate into micelles are
enhanced. However, the effect of decreasing the water solubility
is still dominant and the solubility of water in such
modified gasoline is slightly lower in comparison with the
basic gasoline. There are no major differences in water solubility
for gasoline modified with various propanols and
butanols. An increase in water solubility is only observed
in the gasoline modified with MTBE. The presented
hypothesis is directly confirmed by results presented in
Figs. 6 and 7.
