in weight-sensitive sports, such as endurance
road cyclists (RC) and mountain bike cyclists (MB),
are particularly at risk for LEA (Sundgot-Borgen et al.,
2013). Vogt et al. (2005) found a small group of male
professional RC had severely LEA of 8 kcal·kg FFM–
1·day–1 during a 6-day preseason training camp. To date,
no studies have examined the prevalence of long-term
LEA among cyclists.
