Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) is an internationalorganization founded in 1984 that cooperates with the World
Health Organization (WHO) on making dementia a public healthpriority. ADI released a policy brief in conjunction with the firstG8 Dementia Summit held in London in December 2013. Thereport includes newly available data suggesting that the currentburden and future impact of dementia has been underestimated,particularly in East Asia and Sub-Saharan African regions.The brief estimates the number of people living with dementiaworldwide in 2013 to be 44.35 million; it projects this number toreach 75.62 million in 2030, before hitting 135.46 million by 2050(Prince, Prina, & Guerchet, 2013).
