Advantages and disadvantages of living in the city (2)
Urbanization greatly increasing these days results in the rising number of people in cities. Some people think that living in a city provides them with better conditions and good environment to develop their career; however, others argue that pollution, traffic jam and rush life in city can considerable harmful for their health. Both views have its own validity.
On the one hand, it cannot be denied that city’s life brings people a lot of advantages. First of all, cities are served with a wide range of services and better quality to compare with people in rural and remote areas. They can easily send their children to educational institutions, go to the big hospital as well as enjoy may entertained services when demanding. Moreover, because of the high competitiveness, the quality of these services is good enough to meet the customer’s requirement. In contrast, it is quite hard for people in other areas to experience these services with the same quality. Another advantage is that cities have a better opportunity to develop their career. Due to the fact that city is the political and economic center, people who lives in city can find and choose their suitable job and accumulate experiences from their well – educated colleagues. Therefore, they obviously have better chance to success than their peers who lives in countryside.
On the other hand, some disadvantages can be seen in city. The first one is traffic jam, which cities have to suffer from it everyday. According to statistics, it is considered one of the most serious problems that cost a lot of money. Besides, environment pollution also endangers people’s health. As a result of industrialization, many factories and industrial centers are build, discharging polluted fuel and garbage causing the air and water pollution. Finally, rush life in city is demonstrated to cause some serious diseases such as stress. People in city who are always busy from morning to night to compete to survive in competitive city environment do not seem to be in time for leisure activities, that is the original reason for developing stress.
In conclusion, living in city has advantages and disadvantages. To choose living there or not depends on characteristics of each person. In my point of view, I prefer living in a city at present when I am young to obtain a good career, but I will leave to countryside to breathe fresh air in my old age.
