Swimming: Ian Thorpe Suffering Serious Infection, May Never Compete Again
Swimming great Ian Thorpe, 31 was admitted to a Sydney hospital after contracting two potentially deadly infections.
"Following multiple operations after his fall in January, Ian has contracted two separate infections, both of which are being treated with antibiotics," a rep for the swimmer said. It is unclear if he will be able to compete again.
It was recently disclosed that the five-time Olympic champion checked into rehab for depression in January.
