With the administration of steroids being a
common practice in the treatment of underdeveloped lungs in
premature infants, it would be beneficial to determine their effect
on alveolar cells in responding to altering pressure during mechanical
ventilation. However, with the presented data being derived from
adult cancer cell lines, it would be more relevant to extend the device
to investigate primary cell lines, including but not limited to, fetal
pulmonary cells.
