This paper introduces a framework that characterizes context immersion in mobile AR,
with an aim to explore user experiences in the interweaving of them obility and the augmented interaction.
This research does not deal with mobile AR systems specifically associated with AEC domains (Architecture/Engineering/Construction), but aims to understand the characteristics of
mobile AR systems in general.
Contrary to other frameworks dealing with technical aspects of mobile AR systems, the proposed framework is oriented towards user experiences in mobile AR systems, and can be
a basis for the development and application of systems in AEC domains.
In the following sections, an overview of related works is presented, followed by a notion of ‘context immersion’, and a framework is proposed with several factors.
A customized questionnaire was developed based on the factors, which is explored in a case study.
Finally, conclusions and plans for future study are presented.
