These research findings support the study results obtained by Co¸sar,39 Skinner et al.62 and Wolfet al.,63 where as they contradict the results obtained by Metinarıkan et al.42 and Wilson et al.40 Patients experiencing difficulties in adopting a new lifestyle, having another chronic disease other than diabetes, having difficulties in co-using several drugs, low education level, eating habits, economical inadequacies, family responsibilities, cultural beliefs regarding exercising, lack of sufficient awareness about the disease and short period of education given to patients(3 months) may be effective on the seresults.According to research results,it is observed that the education given to patients has generally a positive effect on metabolic control variables of patients. These results support the 2nd hypothesis of the research.
