Motivating Students
Some education commentators suggested that the longer we delay the introduction of learner centeredness and communicative activities to our students, the harder it becomes for them to adapt to change.
It is now 10 years since the 1999 Education Act was passed in Thailand, and there are still schools around the country that have not adjusted their teaching practices to come in line with government policy.
There are many reasons, e.g., finance, difficulties in the implementation process, and the lack of leadership.
In my opinion, there seems to be a considerable resistance to change, and I’m not talking about the teachers. Some students seem to be in a rut and find it an alien concept to take an active role in class.
Therefore, it is time to find new ways to teach our students. While it is good to use the latest methodologies that we learn from

books and conferences, if the students don’t understand what they have to do, they can’t do it. More time is needed to explain to students what they have to do.
