To date there is enough evidence that supports antimicrobial
activity of polyphenols; however, research on the possible stimulatory
role of phenolic compounds on beneficial intestinal bacteria growth is
scarce. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to determine the effect
of grape pomace extractable polyphenols on growth of Lactobacillus
acidophilus and establish whether grape phenolic compounds may
act as a growth-stimulatory factor
