Sawadee Kup. Is everyone happy?
Good morning and welcome to the US Embassy and ASA Foundation “Life Skills through American Sports” project in Southern Thailand.
A warm welcome and a massive thank you to the following people for attending today’s final event:
- ………………………………………Public Affairs Officer, US Embassy, Bangkok
-………………………………………………………………………………..
In collaboration with the US Embassy, ASA has spent the past 12 months delivering Thailand’s very first Life Skills through American Sports Training of Trainer (ToT) Master Training program to 20 male and female young adult trainer stakeholders of mixed religions who have been trained to empower 2,000 student beneficiaries across Southern Thailand.
The grass-roots Training of Trainer project, which has been replicated across Indonesia and Malaysia, works with 20 male and female young adult trainer stakeholders from Hat Yai, Songkla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. The Master Training activities have empowered the stakeholders by building their capacity to deliver Life Skills and Peace education, such as communication and negotiation skills, peace building and conflict resolution, teamwork and social connectedness together with leadership and organization skills, through professional Basketball and Soccer coaching activities to male and female youth across schools and communities. Therefore, this program also contributes to developing the local capacity of these young people on a sustainable basis. Our aim is to leave a legacy in these target areas.
Furthermore, the trainer stakeholders have submitted their weekly trainer plans, reports and programming footage so that the US Embassy and ASA can monitor and evaluate the project on a regular basis.
And to celebrate the success of this 12 month project, we are conducting a very special Life Skills through Basketball and Soccer competition for 100 male and female students.
On behalf of ASA, I would like to say a massive thank you to the US Embassy and the Government of Southern Thailand for making this program possible.
I would also like to wish our young adult trainer youth stakeholders every success with the project in the future.
Thank you and we wish Southern Thailand all the best for this program.
