Xylanase activity. The variations in xylanase activity with
the cultivation time and agitation rate are given in Fig. 10. The highest xylanase volumetric activity was attained as AXyl = 8600 U dm−3
at MOT (t= 24 h) whereas the lowest activity values were obtained
at LOT. Higher xylanase activities lead to higher xylan consumption rates and consequently higher cell formation rates. Thus at
MOT, as the highest xylanase activities were obtained the highest
cell concentration was attained.
