William Wallace (Braveheart)
While he was growing up. Nobody expected young William Wallace. Who was born in Scotland. To become a hero. However as he learned more about his people be free. At that time King Edward of England wanted to be the king of Scottish. So he used to pay a lot of money to Scottish lords so that their people would not fight against him. Whenever they refused to take the money. (because they wanted to fight the English.) King Edward is army killed them. Sadly William is father was one of the men they killed and this made William even more detennined to fight for his country.
William gathered an army of men to fight the English. He told them. Every man dies but not every man truly lives. These words gave his army great courage. William is army fought many battles like the famous Battle of Stirling Bridge on September 11th 1297. Where they killed 5000 English soldiers. But in 1304 England finally won. And Scotland came under English rule. The next year the English caught William. They killed him in August of that year and then put his head on a pole beside London Bridge to remind people just how dangerous it was to fight the English.
