This situation typically occurs when the supermarket is not located immediately
adjacent to the process step immediately downstream. To show this on the
map, draw the icon above and between the supermarket and the process step
that is withdrawing the work. A dashed line, called the kanban path, shows
where the kanban originates, where it delivers the signal, and where the withdrawn
WIP and the kanban are returned. (Figure 16.9 shows an example of this
use of a withdrawal kanban.)
