These harvest dates were at the end and two weeks after the normal commercial harvest periods,
respectively, for this cultivar in central New York . On each occasion, fruit were randomly sorted into 84 experimental units (net bags) of 10 fruit. Four bags of 10 fruit were taken as replicates for immediate analysis of IEC and
flesh color, and subsequent sampling tissues as described below, while the others were then pre-cooled overnight at 3 C and then either untreated or treated with 1 mL L-1 1-MCP for 24 h in a sealed 4 m3 plastic tent.
