2. Materials and methods
2.1 Plants used and isolation of endophytic bacteria
Sugarcane plant samples (10-month-old of Saccharim sp. var. LK92-11) were rinsed with tap water for 30 minutes. Then, the plant samples were cut onto small pieces and were subsequently immersed in 70% ethanol for 1 minute, followed by the immersion in 5.25% Chlorox for 5 minutes. Finally, the piece of plant were transferred to 75% ethanol and let them dry for 30 seconds. After surface disinfection, three pieces of sample were placed onto nutrient agar(NA). Incubation was performed at room temperature until single colony could be detected. Thereafter, selected colonies were streaked onto NA plates to check for purity. All bacterial isolates were stored on agar slants at 4 c and in the sterile 20% glycerol at -70 c for further studies.
