2. Manner of articulation (how air passes through the tongue to produce a consonant sound).
Three manners occur: stop (plosive),affricate,and fricative (sibilant). For consonants,the air passes though in a short puff,like the consonant sound /p/ and /b/.
With affricate consonants,the air puff is half long and half short,as in the first consonant sounds of the words 11 and 12.
A long air puff accompanies a fricative consonant,as in the first consonant of the word 33
