h. Individual effort in promoting/implementing the development and presentation of System Safety educational and training courses that have improved the level and quality of System Safety implementation and understanding in a large segment of the System or Product Safety professions.
Nominations will be screened by the Awards Committee and coordinated with the Operating Vice-President for Professional Development. The selection will be made by the Awards Board.
Engineer of the Year
The Engineer of the Year Award is presented annually to an individual member of the society who has made contributions to System Safety by development of engineering methods, standards, or designs that have contributed significantly to the safety of operations of use of systems of products. System safety engineers are those who perform the System Safety Engineering function (analysis, safety engineering design review, etc.) on a particular project. They are primarily responsible for the development and application of engineering standards for the safe interface and interaction between systems, within systems and between systems and people. All members in good standing are eligible for this award. Selection is based on individual actions that significantly contributed to the safe design and operation of a major effort such as:
