As investment comprises risk, it becomes essential for an investor to discern the various investment avenues and the risk associated to it. The study focuses on the role of gender in investment behavior and risk taking, with a sample size of 200 respondents using Mann-Whitney U-test and Chi-square statistics for hypotheses testing. It discloses that there is a significant difference among men and women in investment behavior. It also confirms that men are strong risk takers, and women on the other hand seemed not to tolerate uncertainty in investments, and prove to be more risk-averse than men
