The results of this study demonstrate that men and women with high BP are able to adopt
the DASH dietary intake pattern and successfully modify their eating habits over the course of a 16-week intervention trial. At the outset of the study, the average participant wasconsuming a diet reflective of the typical American diet, with elevated intake of fats,cholesterol, and sodium, and limited intake of fruits and vegetables and low-fat dairy.Participants in the DASH interventions (DASH-A and DASH+WM) were successful inincreasing consumption of fruits and vegetables and low fat dairy and in decreasingconsumption of fats and saturated fats, sweets and sodium.
