The manufacturer is Samsung with model number 2038W_156FL with contrast listed as 400:1 and also the refresh rate is 60Hz, which is also a big plus for a panel like this. It’s a nice question and I will include it in the review. (:

Hi, great review. I got the same laptop and I notice the area around the dell logo at the bottom of the screen get really really hot during use. Do you get the same problem? if so, should we be worry?

Thanks for the feedback!
As you can see on the heat map above, right below Dell’s logo gets really hot, since you get most of the heat dispersing from the bottom grill which is located right beneath. But can you specify how hot it is or at least what kind of tasks or applications are you running when experiencing the overheating?

the heat map you provided did not include the dell area on the screen. I only run a few light app like web and photos. It really hot when you touch it and I am worry about it will damage the screen in the long run?

Yes, definitely this is an issue, which you would want to look into. And sorry for the misunderstanding. I thought you were referring to the area below the screen. You might want to contact customer support.

Thanx for such a detailed review of inspiron 7548. Am now actually wondering to buy a dell laptop but kinda confused between inspiron 7548 and inspiron 5548. I tried t find any of your reviews on 5548 but couldnt find it. So can you either post a review of 5548 or you can help me out of my dilemma???

We haven’t done a review on this particular model and we can’t say that we are going to do one for now. But by the looks of it, the 5548 will be more battery-friendly due to the FHD screen (if you are looking for this configuration). Otherwise, the panel used in the 7548 is absolutely astonishing, so it’s up to you – better image quality or better battery life. (:

Hi Rossen,
thanks for the review…I’m really interested in buying the Inspiron 7548, but the Dell specs and customer service, told me that the screen is just UHD and not IPS. So…You’ve tested it, how is it?
This is the official link where I would buy the notebook http://www.dell.com/it/aziende/p/inspiron-15-7548-laptop/pd?oc=bn75807&model_id=inspiron-15-7548-laptop
Many thanks,
waiting for your reply
Daniela

Hello, it’s strange that the customer service isn’t aware of the UHD and IPS technology, since they are really different from each other. Firstly, the IPS panel stands for in-plane switching which solves the problem with poor viewing angles of the TN panel. Usually, it has higher contrast, a bit slower response time, better viewing angles, higher color gamut coverage and etc. To sum things up, the IPS panel is much better than the TN panel.
As for the UHD panel, this stands for Ultra High Definition (just like the good old Full High Definition). The UHD is here just to tell you what is the resolution of the display. That being said, the UHD panel can be an IPS or a TN one. In this case, I am absolutely sure that the display used in the Inspiron 7548 is an IPS panel. Also, it has been confirmed by an engineer in this field, who has been working for a long time with similar technologies and he is a co-author of the review – Kroum Nikolov.
I hope that helps and clarifies your doubts.
P.S.: It’s important to note that there is a slight chance that in your country this model is sold with a different panel, but this is highly unlikely. The only difference should be in the hardware configuration, such as CPU, GPU, storage and RAM.

Many thanks!
I’ve contacted Dell and they told me that this configuration is available only in usa and uk. The problem now is that dell uk doesn’t deliver to Italy and I’m not able to find it.
Can You suggest me an online seller? Did You buy it from dell?
Many many many thanks
