Pueraria mirifica Airy Shaw et Suvatabandhu is a leguminous plant that is endemic to Thailand [1,2], and belongs to
the Family Leguminosae, subfamily Papilionoideae or the soy, bean and pea subfamily. This plant is widely distributed in deciduous forests throughout Thailand at altitudes of 300–800 m, and is commonly and abundantly found in the north, west and north-east [3,4]. It has also been claimed that this plant is found in Myanmar, but this has not been confirmed [4]. P. mirifica is locally called Kwao Krua, Kwao Krua Kwao, Kwao Krua Kao, white Kwao Krua or Guao Krua [4], of which white Kwao Krua is the common name that is popularly used in the scientific literature (e.g. Refs. 5–7).
