Counterfeit currency is a global problem and a serious crime
[1]. In China, the People’s Bank of China and its authorized stateowned
commercial banking agencies are primarily responsible
for determining the authenticity of currency. These authorities
urgently need improved tools to detect counterfeit notes.
Identifying features can include the production methods, substrate
(paper), and medium (ink materials). Such tools should provide a
measureable phenotype and scientific rationale that discriminates
between authentic currency and counterfeit notes
