Many people might think of personality as only a description of an individual, i.e., if that individual is well-mannered or rude, talkative or quiet, friendly or unfriendly,etc., Sapir, however, looks at personality as resulting from the social framework of interaction and an individual's up-bringing, both of which are integrated; therefore, it is very difficult and sometimes impossible to differentiate the"social" and the"individual" contributions to the formation of personality.
