established a beneficial link between phenolic compounds
intake and reduced risk of disease, which were attributed to
both their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties
(Stan, Kar, Stoner, & Singh, 2008). It is well known that oxidative
stress, which results from the presence of excessive
quantities of reactive oxygen species in biological systems,
may cause cell membrane dysfunction and DNA damage
(Barzilai & Yamamoto, 2004). Many degenerative disorders
