Vitamin D for strong bones
Vitamin D is made by the body on exposure to sunlight and is important for bone strength.
However, as we age we're at risk of a deficiency because we spend more time indoors and when we do go outside, less skin is exposed.
'This increases the risk of osteo-porotic fractures,' says Helen Macdonald, professor of nutrition and musculoskeletal medicine at the University of Aberdeen.
Over-65s are advised to take a daily supplement of 10 mcg of vitamin D.
