Vannath Chea and her country, Cambodia, went through its dark journey through twentieth century of consuming in the maelstrom of the Cold War, Pol Pot’s revolution and civil war (from 1970 to 1993) where more than two millions people died by war casualties, mass killings, starvation and diseases. Vannath ended up fleeing to the United States as a refugee, returning to Cambodia at the start of the UN peacekeeping mission of 1992-1993.
