Inoculations were made by placing 10 g colonized wheat seed/L
for every isolate of Trichoderma (109 spores per L substrate) or
0.75 g colonized wheat seed per L for R. necatrix Rn 400 to the plant
substrate at different depths and distances from the plant stem.
There were five experiments with treatments consisting of eight
monoconidial Trichoderma isolates, which were tested as single
isolates or in combinations of 2, 3, or 4 isolates. All experiments
and treatments used 5- and 24-month old EC and GS avocado
plants, respectively. Plants (one per pot) were grown in 1.15 L pots
containing LS for EC plants and SPS substrate for GS plants. Experiments
I and III were conducted in CTR, while experiments II, and
IV and V (repeated experiments) were conducted under greenhouse
conditions maintained at 18–26 C with relative humidity
of 56–88%.
