Chemical efJicacy tests
No significant difference in final infection rate or percent hatch was seen among all
formalin treatment groups for uninfected eggs (mean range 88.8-90.2%; Table 1).
Formalin treatments on eggs infected with 10% fungus progressively improved the mean
percent hatch as the treatment concentrations increased (500 ,ul 1-l : 56.2% hatch; 1000
/.L11-‘: 74.3% hatch; and 1500 ~1 l- ‘: 83.9% hatch (Table 1)). The mean percent hatch
for the untreated, infected control group was only 23.8%. All treatments were significantly
different from the positive control in the 10% infected treatment groups.
