Three cellulose producing strains were isolated from
vinegar wastes. Physiological and biochemical tests of the
isolated and reference strains showed significant
resemblance. Discrepancies were found in the oxidation of
lactate, ketogenesis of glycerol, growth on glutamate agar
and acid production from sucrose, which will be resolved by
further testing of more reference strains. However, for more
precise identification, other procedures including 16S rRNA
