RCDUs work extensively with private landowners to employ sustainable
conservation practices, but have an equally important role and presence in local and
community conservation efforts. RCDUs plan and implement conservation projects on
both private and public lands but may also coordinate resource conservation initiatives on
a broader level, and are encouraged to facilitate collaborative means for furthering
resource conservation within their districts (California Association of Resource
Conservation Districts, 2011). RCDUs are vital in bringing together individuals,
communities, organizations and government to address and solve conservation issues.
