Every weekday afternoon between 4 and 5pm, motorists passing Prataungtipvittaya school in Bangkok's Sai Mai district are likely to see a middle-aged woman next to the road.
She will be wearing white gloves and she will be moving around with great energy directing traffic.
Her name is Saree Suphan and she is the director of the school.
There is heavy traffic in the area, she explains, since several schools end their day at about the same time.
There are also very few traffic police available, so she has volunteered to help.
