Cows showed marked differences in faecal P
output among days within collection period (Table
2). Data were analysed both with a repeated measures
model and other models, as well as with contrasts to
evaluate how many days of faeces collection that
would be optimal. However, the results from these
analyses did not give any further information (data not
shown). There was a tendency towards a significant
effect of period ( P b0.05).
Increased dietary P levels had no effect on the
digestibility of organic matter (Table 2). During the
experiment, milk production decreased markedly.
However, the recording of milk production did not
precisely correspond to the collection periods (data
not shown). In the last period, the apparent digestibility
