The overarching objective of this work was to evaluate the
removal of aqueous phase SMX and CIP by GO under various conditions.
Batch sorption experiments were conducted to measure the
sorptive characteristics ofthese antibiotics on GO and to determine
the sorption mechanisms. Results from model simulations were
used to help the data interpretations. The specific objectives were
to: (1) determine sorption ability of GO to the two antibiotics (2)
understand the effect of solution pH and ionic strength on sorption
of the two antibiotics, and (3) determine the effect of the sorbed
antibiotics on the stability of the post-sorption (spent) GO sheets.
