lines, makingtheseshallowaquaticecosystemsparticularly
exposed toanthropogenicinfluencesandeutrophication.Asa
result, acombinationofincreasedtemperatureandreduced
oxygen availabilityiscurrentlyimpinginguponseveralfresh-
water andmarinefishpopulations(Ficke etal.,2007; Rabalais
