The tension boiling at the western border has also been a difficult one. Ever since 1947, India and Pakistan have been embroiled in an endless streak of conflicts ranging from territorial demarcation, sharing of water resources, border skirmishes to major wars. India and Pakistan share a boundary worth 3323 kilometers. The Indian states sharing the border are Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat. International borders with Pakistan gain tremendous significance because of the belief and evidence that terrorist incidents on the Indian territory have association with radical groups in Pakistan. Such occurrences call for enhanced border management activities from the Indian security forces.
