higher in the infected glands than in the uninfected
ones (Table 2). Plasminogen activity was very low
to undetectable; therefore, these data are not presented.
Free (ionized) calcium did not differ, whereas aCa
2+ was
significantly lower (P < 0.002) in the infected glands vs.
the uninfected glands. Concentration of p-p was 1.5
times higher (P < 0.0005) in the infected glands than
in the uninfected ones (Table 2). The goat effect was
significant for aCa
2+ and p-p and insignificant for [Ca2+].
