for our first visit to Chumphon we picked the most important temple in this southern city, Wat Chumphon Rangsan. It is important for it's Buddha image Phra Buddha Patimakorn, also called Phra Rodsonkhram. At first we looked for an Emerald Buddha image, which we found in a nearby building, but the abbot of the temple then lead us to the real image. The Ubosot of the temple was destroyed by bombs when the Japanese invaded Thailand during WW II, but we were told that the Buddha image was not harmed. An image with the same name is located in Wat Soi Thong in Bangkok, though it looks different, which caused us first to think that it is not the right image.
