Recently,
methanol, dimethyl ether (DME) and hydrocarbon fuels
have attracted attention as alternatives to oil. A gas to
liquid (GTL) process has been developed for the synthesis
of these fuels; this process involves steam reforming of natural
gas followed by the Fischer–Tropsch (FT) method
[3,4]. However, the depletion of natural gas resources has
increased the necessity for reducing the consumption of
natural gas [1]. Thus, biomass and coal are considered as
potential feedstocks for the supply of syngas (CO and
H2) used in the synthesis of liquid fuels by gasification.
