Flagellin is also well known to induce the innate
and Th1 responses [44]. Recently, Sui et al. proposed that the strategic
use of adjuvants can provide better mucosal protection through
induction of both innate and adaptive immunity [45]. This novel
oral vaccine utilizing bifidobacterium with flagellin-antigen might
be an ideal formulation to induce both innate and adaptive immunity
against typhoidal Salmonella strains.
