As others already pointed out, traveling by plane is, generally, a fast and convenient way of getting from point A to point B, especially if you're traveling long distance and over huge bodies of water, think Asia to Europe.
You don't have to worry about transporting your heavy luggage as airport personnel will do it for you.
You can watch the latest movies. Just bring your own earphones. I've managed to watch movies I've missed while on a 12-hour trip.
You don't have to worry about food as you get fed (depending on the airline) and the food is decent, too (depending on the airline again and the class).
I should point out that the experience would also depend on the airline you use as well as the airport you land or depart from. Since you'll be stuck inside a metal contraption for hours, the customer service will either make flying a pleasurable experience or a horrible one. For instance, I noticed a stark difference in customer service provided by airlines based in the US from those based in Asia.
Cons
As mentioned above, if you're traveling long haul, you'll be stuck inside with nowhere to go. Not so great for people who suffer from claustrophobia. For people with long legs, the seat and space might make them feel cramped. You'll also have to deal with inconsiderate passengers.
Long waiting time. You'll spend most of your time waiting and lining up.
You have to deal with jet lag, when you cross time zones. It could take you a couple of days to 2 weeks to recover.
Your luggage can get waylaid or lost. Depending on the airline, it could turn up on the next flight, the next few days or never.
Those are my top Pros and Cons. Others may have some more to add.
